Signs Your Website Needs a Redesign

Most websites do not fail overnight. They drift. The design ages, the content stops matching the business, and the site slowly stops doing its job. The clearest sign it is time for a redesign is that your website no longer helps you win the customers you want, whether that shows up as fewer enquiries, visitors leaving quickly, or a business that has outgrown what the site says about it.

How do you know if your website needs a redesign?

Look at it from three angles: how it works, how it looks and what it delivers. One issue on its own is usually fixable. If several of the signs below sound familiar, a redesign is worth serious consideration.

Signs your website is holding your business back

It does not work well on mobile

Most web traffic now comes from mobile devices. If text is hard to read, buttons are awkward to tap or the layout breaks on a smaller screen, you are losing people before they have read a word.

It is slow

Pages that take too long to load lose visitors and can weaken your search visibility. Slow sites are often the result of heavy templates, too many plugins or oversized images, and they are rarely fixed properly without rebuilding the foundations.

It looks dated or no longer matches your business

If your branding, services or pricing have changed and your website has not, visitors get a mixed message. A site that looked right three years ago can undersell the business you run today.

It is hard for you to update

If changing a line of text or adding a page means calling a developer, updates get put off and the content goes stale. You should be able to look after your own website without fear of breaking it.

It is not bringing in enquiries

A website exists to turn visitors into enquiries, bookings or sales. If you have traffic but few people get in touch, the structure, calls to action or messaging usually need rethinking, and a fresh coat of paint alone will not fix that.

The platform is limiting what you can do

Some platforms restrict layout, functionality and design, and others take constant upkeep to stay secure and fast. When you keep working around those limits to get the site you want, it may be time to move to one that can grow with you. We have moved sites from WordPress to Webflow for exactly this reason, including Little Latham House, which we completely revamped after it moved from WordPress, keeping the content that worked and adding new sections and functionality.

It gives search engines very little to work with

Missing page titles and descriptions, no clear page structure and no easy way to add new content all make it harder for the right people to find you.

You hesitate to send people to it

A useful gut check: would you confidently share your website with a new client today? If the answer is no, that tells you something.

If three or more of these sound familiar, it is worth a conversation about what a redesign could change.

Does a redesign mean starting from scratch?

Not necessarily. You can carry over the content you want to keep while we create new layouts, sections and functionality around it, or we can build a completely new website if that suits you better. Which is right depends on how much of your current site is still working for you.

What happens to your old website and your SEO?

If your current website is built on WordPress or another platform, it can remain live while we create its replacement in Webflow. We review your existing website and SEO, transfer the agreed page content and support the transition when your new website is ready to launch, including basic redirects for agreed core pages where required.

How this fits our packages

A complete redesign usually sits in our Growth or Scale package, and projects usually take 4 to 6 weeks depending on complexity. You can see all of our website packages and read more about our Webflow web design service.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a website be redesigned?

There is no fixed rule. The right time is when your website stops supporting your goals, not when a calendar says so. A regular check against the signs above will tell you more than a number of years.

Will I lose my SEO if I redesign my website?

Not if the transition is planned. We review your existing website and SEO, carry over the agreed content and set up basic redirects for agreed core pages where required, so you keep as much search visibility as possible.

Can I keep my existing website content?

Yes. You can carry over the content you want to keep while we create new layouts, sections and functionality around it.

Can you redesign a website built on WordPress?

Yes. If your current website is on WordPress, it can remain live while we create its replacement in Webflow. We review your existing website and SEO, transfer the agreed page content and support the transition when your new website is ready to launch. You can also start fresh with a completely new build.

How long does a website redesign take?

A complete redesign on our Growth or Scale package usually takes 4 to 6 weeks depending on complexity.

What does a website redesign include?

A redesign includes a review of your existing website and SEO where applicable, optimised page titles, meta descriptions and image alt text, internal page linking, and basic redirects for agreed core pages where required. Your domain and your Webflow subscription are paid separately.
